I am a 34 year old single mother of two in the state fo Maine. Those of you who are from Maine, know of people from Maine, Etc, know that pay scales here are pretty lousy. Due to my second pregnancy my teeth became really brittle and all of my teeth upper and lower back teeth have broken around fillings and are now pretty much broken to the gumlines. I can't afford dental and what little money I do earn full time which is only $7.50 an hour it goes towards making sure my children have what they need which includes dental and medical. I can't afford to have the back teeth pulled out which they need and would like to replace them with something permanant. I can barely eat anything and smiling is so difficult because it's so embarrassing for me and I cry alot because I am single and want so much to get back into the dating scene and meet someone I can be with the rest of my life but Im too affraid. Who wants a woman who won't smile?? Or who wants a woman who does manage a smile have barely any teeth? My gums around my back teeth are really absessed and i have to literally drain them myself just to take the pressure of of them. YUCK! I want to find a better job but this problem with my teeth keeps me back from moving forward. I'm affraid to go to interviews because of my teeth. I'm in pain on a daily basis and go through tons of IB Profin etc. I lose alot of sleep over this and I am highly aggitated by the contant pain which pulsates through my jaw. Do to this problem my health has been terrible. I get headaches and jaw pain and so much more. Is there anyone out there who can give me back my confidence? My Smile? A chance at improving my social life (which is null)my health and feel confident enough to get out there and find a better job.

My daughter has the same problem you have. She lives in Phoenix, AZ and has no dental insurance and she has the same problems you say you do. How the heck is supposed to afford to get her teeth fixed? I've been looking online for any type of "free" dental agencies that could help her, but I guess Arizona doesn't help anyone without insurance. They ALL want some money of some type and that just doesn't help the poor working females, I can only help her so much financially and it makes me sick to think how bad her teeth have gotten, especially since she HAD such beautiful teeth when she lived home in Michigan. But what is one to do, affordable healthcare in the USA is non-existent anymore. I hope someone helps you out, I'm going to keep on checking and hope I find someone for my daughter to go too that won't rob her blind. Good luck.

A few of my teeth have become lose and the detest wants to pull so I was looking around and ran across this webpage and let me suggest here in Los Angeles we have to dental

Schools USC & UCLA and they will perform dental work and they charge based on your

Income so for those that have little income it’s near free for detail work or it was the last time I used the service you may want to check with a detail school in your area if they have a program like this.

Dear Colleen, I just wanted to tell you that I know exactly how you feel. Be strong and optimistic that one day your teeth will be fixed. I have many problems too and I'm just starting now to get my teeth fixed at almost near 40. I wanted to see if you ever tried to fill out an application at Maine Dental Association. If not, go to www.nfdh.org and click on Donated Dental Service, then click on your state, and get an application. Also, try writing a letter to the co-chairs of Maine Dental Ass. Dr. Mike Bufo or Dr. Jim Helmkamp. That might help. My state of Arizona isn't accepting any applications but the state of Maine is so I hope you give it a try and PRAY a lot. Really, praying and fasting works!!! I prayed to get one root canal done and somehow i got the money to do it. A little at a time. Thanks. Marineta P.S. ammagda10@aol.com

Dental Work I have been insulted twice about my teeth by dentist and both times I have left their office in pain with no antibiotics or pain medication perscriptions. This is the way in America for working people. I make a reasonable wage but with the inflated cost of housing medical insurance and energy I do not have the Cash to pay for two root canels and crowns. Of cource here they except credit cards but not payments. I do not want to loose my teath but I am growing weary of hurting. Thanks for my 30 years of work to this country. The working man has had enough of this. If I do not work there is help. If I do there is none . What is wrong with this picture? I am a state employee.

Some of states have medical/dental help for low income and parents..Dental would all be paid for, i'll check if theres something like that in your state. Also, there are a lot of programs in different cities that have a certain time that you go and they check your teeth and fix everything for free, or for a very low donation, like even 5 bucks.

Colleen - How about relatives, or friends, or classmates, or may be even co-workers? Is there anybody you know that may be able to help you? It might be easier for you this way because you'll be able to talk to people you know... and they could decide how they can help - may be a little money gathered from a few different people. Or, may be people from a local church might be willing to get together and help you. Even if you are not religious, you can still ask for help. If I come up with some useful information, I'll post it here - on your Aidpage. Good luck!
